Dear Parents,
For those of you who have not been able to attend the rescheduled CPA Meeting on March 20, with Academy 1 Principal Ms. Margaret Freeman, please click on the link to view a power point Presentation recapping the meeting: Academy 1 Presentation
The Principal of M.S.#4 has informed us that there will be a special open house presentation held at M.S.# in late May. We will keep you posted.
Dear parents,
A number of teachers have given us their wishlists for books from the book fair. If you would like to purchase a book for a classroom, please send money in an envelope with the teacher and book name on the outside (books listed below).
Alternatively, you may view Ms. Vittal’s wishlist on Scholastic here. If you then click the button “School Wish Lists”, you can view wishlists uploaded by a few other teachers. Scholastic will ship books to the school for free.
Dear PS16 Parents,
If you are planning to attend tonight’s City Council meeting about the Payroll Tax, that will take place at 6PM at City Hall, please find some helpful instructions and background information below.
For those coming with kids tonight (from Brigid D’Souza on Facebook):
Below is the background information about the Payroll Tax, and the dialogue around it – compiled by https://jerseycityed.com/
Jersey City Council Meeting – Tuesday, November 20, 2018 – Payroll
Tonight at the Jersey City Council meeting, the Payroll Tax proposal is on the agenda and open to public comment. There is no doubt that there will be both strong support and opposition to this new proposed tax on all private employers’ payrolls of non-Jersey City residents (the tax is not levied on individual employee’s wages). The tax revenues are intended to support the budget gap that Jersey City Public Schools face as the State of New Jersey begins to withdraw the funding that has long supported the city’s public schools.
For more information, check out the following links:
Mayor Steven Fulop has expressed his support on social media, saying:
We hope you will be able to join us for our first official montly meeting tonight, in the auditorium, at 6pm.
On the agenda:
Dear parents, guardians, and friends,
We hope you will join us this Friday, for an evening of fun with our PS16 family. We will be selling uniforms in the courtyard before the movie, and snacks during the movie.
Feel free to bring your picnic blankets, or even folding chairs (but place them in the back so everyone can see, please!), and your dinner.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The district has moved the school’s lunch payment system from payforit.net to www.myschoolbucks.com. Registration is simple, and adding your child to your account can be done either with their student ID or with their full name and birth date. Once you have added your child to your account on MySchoolBucks, their balance from the old system will transfer over.
This year, in lieu of the standard novel + writing assignment, the district is holding a reading contest through MyOn. Please see the below photo for details:
