After school Enrichment Program

We are so excited to finally be able to resume our After School Enrichment Program!!  We know how much our students benefit from the enrichment opportunities at PS16 each year. Our parent council has worked with our teachers to create a program filled with a multitude of fun learning activities. Classes will begin on Monday March 7th.

Understanding that these are challenging times for all of us, the parent council has chosen to reduce the typical surcharge normally included in the running of these programs to cover our administrative, and insurance costs as well as the District imposed security fee.

Unfortunately we are unable to hold any classes in the Annex building due to CASPER currently using all available spaces there. All classes will be held in the main building. Annex students may be brought to the main building by their parent to participate in classes. Regretfully Annex students who attend CASPER are unable to enroll at this time. Students in Grades 2-5 who attend CASPER in the main building can fully participate in all classes.

Registration for classes will begin on Friday March 4th at 7pm.

Please find the offered classes and prices here:https://www.ps16cpa.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/afterschool-22-descriptions.pdf Our classes will run for 45 minutes. Please register your children according to their grade level.

Giving Tuesday!!

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

GivingTuesday strives to build a world in which the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we build together, unlocking dignity, opportunity, and equity around the globe.

Last year the CPA of PS16 raised $1200 on Giving Tuesday. These donations go a long way in helping support our students! Please consider donating this Tuesday! If your company has a matching fund make sure you register “The CPA of PS16” so the matching grant will be used for our students! Thank you in advance!

Diwali Celebrations at PS16

In normal times Diwali is one of the favorite holidays celebrated at PS16. Children and staff dress in traditional outfits and parent volunteers visit classrooms sharing the story of Diwali and spending time making Diwali crafts with our students. With Covid protocols in place we have had to adapt how we celebrate holidays and festivals. While we are unable to celebrate our usual way, we are still able and eager to celebrate!

Our CPA vice president, Shweta Bhatia, undertook the task of organizing and coordinating our Diwali event. We owe her a debt of gratitude.

With much appreciation to Mrs. Watkins Williams and Mr. Salgado for encouraging our children to share their cultures with our school. Students and staff were treated to a   performance by PS16 dancers who learn with Shehnaaz Dance Academy They put on an amazing show and we are honored to share their talents with our school community. Thank you to Shehnaaz Jagasia (Mom to Aaliya and Zoya) for dedicating her time and talents to PS16. We also thank BuzyBugs along with second graders Ahaan Anjaria and Kira Honmane for sharing the story of Diwali.
