Cornelia F. Bradford School PS16 Newsletter

December 7th, 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Our CPA monthly meeting, being held tonight via Zoom, is normally the kick off to the holiday season at PS16. The tree lightening ceremony and display of the Menorah is typically a festive event with our children and parents enjoying the holiday sing along. COVID, the real "Grinch," has placed a temporary hold on our celebrations and events but it will not hamper the spirit of the festive season within our PS16 community.

Thursday begins the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. We wish all our families who celebrate a very happy and blessed Hanukkah. "May the lights of Hanukkah usher in a better world for all humankind" (Author Unknown)

Much appreciation to everyone who donated to the CPA of PS16 on Giving Tuesday. This year is a very different experience for our students but we are blessed with amazing teachers who are making sure that our kids are supported and succeeding both academically and emotionally. Your donations will help provide our students and teachers with resources and activities. We truly appreciate your support.

PS16 students did such a great job disguising their turkeys that we are still highlighting their work well after Thanksgiving!

Fourth grade students Haley Roca (Nurse Turkey), Angelica Perry (Chocolate Chip Cookie Turkey), Julian Rasquinha (Turkey hiding in bushes) and Sheel Chauhan (Turkey hiding in soil)
Room 306 Turkeys - Sampriti Parthasarathy (Crayola Turkey), Avani Musale, Valentina Mendieta-Prat (Peacock Turkey) and Aarav Bharatia

Congratulations to fourth grade student Ruhaan Gokhale and second grade student Aisling Kerr on their recognition in the 2020 PATH Holiday Poster Contest. Both students posters were placed in the 'Top 25' and will be displayed in the Journal Square Station over the Holiday Season. We thank Ms. Gordon for continuing to inspire our students with fun and challenging art assignments while we are in virtual learning.

We are delighted to announce that virtual learning will not deter our teachers from ensuring their students are able to participate in the PS16 Spelling Bee 2021. More details will be announced this week. Each year, our school champion represents PS16 at the Hudson County Spelling Bee with the chance to advance to the National Spelling Bee!

Our next CPA monthly meeting will take place, via Zoom, on Monday December 7th at 6pm. We will be introducing our Annual Spelling Bee and our Virtual Holiday Lip Sync Battle! Please sign up in advance by completing this Google Form
